[ARCHIVED] What Should You Do with Holiday Waste?

The holidays can be a time of extra waste. From December 26 to January 6th, residents can place extra bags of trash curbside next to the trash cart for collection. The extra trash must be bagged. Recyclables can be placed next to the recycle cart either in a bag or a box. Please flatten cardboard.

If you have a Christmas tree, recycle it with E.J. Harrison & Sons. They will collect trees at your house from December 26th to January 7th. Just follow these guidelines:

  • Remove all ornaments, hooks, lights, tinsel, nails, and stands
  • Cut trees into 4-foot sections and place them in the Organics/Yard Waste Barrel on your scheduled pick-up day or leave them whole curbside if you don't have an Organics/Yard Waste Barrel.
  •  Flocked trees also are accepted for recycling.

Apartment and condo dwellers should get in touch with their management to make sure they have arranged for Christmas tree collection.
