Cannabis Webpage (1)

You may now register for the Orientation "Kick Off" Meeting.  The information in this update has been posted to the City's Cannabis FAQs.

When is the application period and the Orientation Kick Off?

The Application Period 1 for commercial cannabis permits is June 28-August 11, 2021.

The Orientation "Kick Off" Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 23, 2021 @ 3:00 pm. You may register here for the June 23 Orientation Meeting.

  • Application materials will be released several days before the Orientation to give applicants an opportunity to read through them beforehand.
  • Registration is required to attend the Orientation Meeting, however, you are not required to attend the meeting to apply for a commercial cannabis permit.  The meeting will be recorded and posted to the City's website.
  • The meeting will be held virtually on WebEx.  You must download the WebEx application in advance of the meeting, unless you have previously done so.
  • This meeting is not for general public comment, but is for potential applicants, landlords, and others who may be interested to receive an overview of the application and its procedures and guidelines.  Time permitted, there may be a brief question/answer session regarding the application, procedures and guidelines.

The following are new questions under the FAQ titled “Questions about Submitting Applications and Fees”

Does the City have a preference over a property with a standalone building or one within a shopping center?

The City does not have a specific preference whether a property is a standalone building or one within a shopping center.  With either type of location, it matters more how an applicant will address the criteria required in the application for each of the two types.

If an applicant is under contract for a property with a standalone building or one within a shopping center, should the applicant submit both?

The number of applications an applicant submits is a business decision and the City cannot provide strategic advice to applicants.
