Ventura City Manager Alex D. McIntyre is pleased to announce the hiring of Linda Sumansky as the new VenturaWaterPure Program Director, following a competitive nationwide recruitment. She joins Ventura from the City of Santa Barbara where she led a variety of engineering projects.
With over 35 years of experience, 19 in the water industry, Linda has a broad engineering background, including water quality, wastewater design, construction, and budgeting for capital projects.
“VenturaWaterPure will be a significant undertaking for the City and we are thrilled to have someone with Linda’s experience and background to lead this critical program,” said McIntyre. "We are looking forward to having her fill this important leadership position and join our team.”
Under the direction of the City Manager, the director will oversee and manage the VenturaWaterPure Program, which will divert, treat, and re-use water that is currently discharged into the Santa Clara River Estuary. A new advanced water purification facility will treat water to its purest form, creating a new, locally-owned supply that isn’t dependent on rainfall.
“I am excited to join the City of Ventura and to be part of a program that is so important to the community,” said Linda Sumansky.
Since 2012, Linda has worked at the City of Santa Barbara, where she served most recently as the principal civil engineer and project manager for three large capital improvement projects to improve water quality and provide a reliable drinking water source. Linda holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Linda will assume her role as the City’s VenturaWaterPure Program Director on March 22, 2021.
