[ARCHIVED] Live Fire Training in Sexton Canyon

Training Burn

Firefighters from the Ventura County Fire Department will be doing a live fire training burn in Sexton Canyon. The training burn, and subsequent smoke in the area, is set to begin on Friday, April 9, 2021, between 10am-3pm.

Please don’t be alarmed as this is a planned operation. Firefighters from the 58th Academy will be taught strategies and tactics in this controlled live fire environment and firefighting resources will be on scene throughout the duration of the burn. Controlled training burns, like this one, provide increased protection against wildfires through the removal of vegetation in our high risk areas.

Please share this message with friends and family in the area, as we want to reduce the number of 9-1-1 calls received, so we can keep phone lines open for emergencies.
