Emergency Preparedness Tips


When strong winds are blowing, the risk of wildfire is high. During a "Red Flag Warning," residents are encouraged to review their emergency plan and be prepared for a possible "Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)" alert.

Top 7 Ventura Preparedness Tips:  

🔥 Call 805-652-4550 to report downed trees or debris blocking roadways 

🔥  For active Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) areas in Ventura, visit and enter your address to see a SoCal Edison map of impacted areas. 

🔥 Register to receive PSPS alerts from SoCal Edison at  Your power could be temporarily shut off to prevent electric systems from becoming a source of ignition. 

🔥 Register for free local emergency alerts by texting "VCALERT" to 313131 or visiting 

🔥 Protect your property, take down backyard canopies, and secure fire pits and backyard decorations.

🔥 Build an emergency supply kit that includes food, water, flashlights, fresh batteries, first aid supplies, medications, and cash. Don't forget to be familiar with how to manually open your garage door or turn off your water/ power. 

🔥  When driving in strong wind events, keep both hands on the wheel, avoid distractions, and be on the lookout for downed trees or power lines.
