American Cross Safety Class Schedule & Fees (PDF).


Water Safety Instructor


16 Years up to Adult
Successful completion of this course will certify you to teach all levels of American Red Cross progressive swimming lessons. Included in the course is Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT). You must attend all class sessions, successfully complete all assignments, and instruct 4 additional teach back hours to obtain certification. Prerequisite: 16 years of age by first class day, 200-yard continuous swim and demonstration of 4 competitive strokes, and sidestroke.


Lifeguard Training


15 Years up to Adult
Certifications include: First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguard Training. Prerequisites: 15 years of age by first class day; 400-yard continuous swim; 20 yard swim with 10 pound brick retrieval from bottom of pool. Certification is valid for 2 years and is included upon successful completion of course. Must attend all class dates to be certified.

Lifeguard Training Review


17 Years up to Adult
Must show proof of current Lifeguard Training certification. Same certifications and prerequisites as for Lifeguard Training (see above). Certification is valid for 2 years and is included upon successful completion. Must attend all class dates. This course can also be arranged by appointment for small groups by calling 805-654-7514.

Standard First Aid


13 Years up to Adult
Recognize and address heat and cold emergencies, sudden illnesses and poisonings, along with first aid for everything from cuts and scrapes to muscle, bone and joint injuries.

CPR - Adult & Pediatrics With AED


13 Years up to Adult
Learn to recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac and breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants. Learn how to use Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer


13 Years up to Adult
For duty-to-respond rescuers or those desiring advanced CPR knowledge. Class includes: recognizing and caring for shock, cardiac and breathing emergencies in adult, child and infant, 2-rescuer CPR, airway obstruction, use of an AED and resuscitation mask and bag mask along with first aid for everything from cuts, scrapes to muscle, bone and joint injuries.
