Montalvo Safe Routes to School


The Montalvo Safe Routes to School Project included over two miles of continuous sidewalks, one mile of new bike lanes, 12 new curb ramps, reconstruction of 26 existing curb ramps, 27 new pedestrian and bicycle crossings, and the installation of new landmark signage that enhanced the Montalvo neighborhood's identity while improving safety and accessibility for its residents. Project highlights

  • A high-intensity activated crosswalk beacon (HAWK) was installed at the Cypress Point Path crossing at Telephone Road (coming at a later date)
  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) installed at the Cypress Point crossing at Ralston Street
  • Bike improvements include installing bike lanes and green bike lanes along Walker Street and Moon Drive east of Victoria Avenue. 
  • Sidewalk installations in the recently annexed Montalvo neighborhood.
