CITY OF VENTURA – USE OF CARES
ACT FUNDING OF 2020
On March 27, 2020, President
Trump signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (Public Law
116-136) (CARES Act). The CARES Act provided $5 billion in CDBG coronavirus (CDBG-CV) response funds to prevent,
prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus, nationwide. The City of Ventura received funds in the
amount of $453,683 in the Spring of 2020 (Round 1), and $829,576 in the Fall of
2020 (Round 3 funds; Round 2 funds were allocated to the States).
Updates to the 2019-2020 Annual
Action Plan were made to incorporate the funds into immediate use. On July 13, 2020, CDBG-CV funds were awarded
to ARCH, the City’s homeless shelter operated by Mercy House.
Round 3 funds are currently unencumbered,
and the City will hold a Notification of Funding Availability to open
opportunities for local organizations to apply for funding needs associated
with services for residents and businesses affected by the coronavirus. More information on these funds can be found
