Hazardous Waste & Toxics Reduction
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are common household items, which contain toxic materials and can not be disposed of in either the recycle or the trash bin. HHW should be properly disposed of at the monthly HHW Events, which are held the third Saturday of each month except December.

Green Business Program
The City of Ventura's Green Business Program offers free business assistance and waste assessments to local businesses, who are interested in reducing their waste and adopting more sustainable practices. The City also offers the Green Business Certification Program for those businesses interested in reducing their impact, saving money through increased efficiency and rebate programs, and promoting their business through the California Green Business Network.

Green Schools Program
The Green Schools Program provides local schools, youth programs, and youth groups with free environmental presentations and support for sustainability initiatives. Through environmental engagement and hands-on activities, the Green Schools Program aims to develop a sense of environmental responsibility in our youth.

Construction & Demolition Waste Management
The City of Ventura implements the California Green Building Code Standards (CalGreen), which requires construction and demolition projects to develop and implement a Waste Management Plan to divert a minimum of 65% of landfill-bound waste from qualifying projects.

Ventura Compost Co-Op
This page describes the City of Ventura's new community composting program, the Ventura Compost Co-Op. Registered Members will be able to drop off food scraps and accepted items, which will be composted onsite at the Cornucopia Community Gardens.

Leaf Blower Trade-In Program
Ventura residents or businesses who trade in a working gasoline-powered blower can apply for this program to receive a 50% discount on a battery-powered leaf blower!
