While we are not able to offer our traditional programs and services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are focusing on providing virtual activities and modified programs that meet State of California, County of Ventura, City of Ventura, and CDC guidelines.

NEW! JANUARY – MARCH SESSION

Learn all about dinosaurs in this fun hands-on class. Explore the creatures of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous eras through fun hands-on projects and activities including the “Dino of the Day”. We’ll hunt for fossils, do a Dino Dig, and even do our own dinosaur “egg-scavation”. A “dino egg” is included in the class fee and will be sent to each participant.

Jr. Naturalist Club

Jr Naturalist Club

NEW! JANUARY – FEBRUARY SESSION

Join our Outdoor Club as we listen to and look closely at the weather, trees, plants, and animals in our surrounding environment. Class focus is “experiential,” with participants learning through fun games, activities, and crafts that encourage use of all the senses. Children will be excited to share class projects they can use in their own yards and neighborhoods. Class content will include new material for returning naturalists.

Instructors are Certified California Naturalists who studied under Joseph B. Cornell (Sharing Nature Worldwide). Sessions will be led by a credentialed teacher who has 35 years of experience in elementary education.

Looking to explore the world of anime, cartooning, and comic creation? In this class you’ll draw and sketch as you create your own characters inspired by anime and popular cartoons. You’ll also learn about developing cartoon storylines, design, coloring, and lettering while you create your own comic book.

FIFA 21 eSports League

NEW! January-February Season!

Want to show off your skills at FIFA 21? Then join our FIFA 21 eSports League and every Saturday afternoon you’ll play a match against another competitor from Ventura County. Our host organization, GG Leagues, will create the games. Before each game begins, you’ll receive your invitation to join. GG Leagues will monitor games to maintain civility between participants and track scores and standings.

After 5-weeks, the top teams from each division will compete against each other in a 1-day playoff to declare a champion!

IMPORTANT: players must provide their own PS4 and copy of FIFA 21 to participate.

Registration runs through January 12. Spots are limited so sign-up today!

Location: Your own home, all games are played online
Dates: Saturdays, 1/16 – 2/20, 4 – 6 PM

Softball Skills Target Practice League

Adult Sports - Over the Line

NEW! January Season!

Want to get back on the field and practice your softball skills? Then get your team together for this 3-week skills competition. Each week your team will have 30 minutes to take a swing at targets placed around the softball field. The more targets you hit, the higher your score.

After 3-weeks of competition, scores will be calculated, and the highest scoring team will be crowned the champions!

All teams who sign-up will also be permitted to use the infield area at the Auto Center Field to practice their fielding skills while waiting for their opportunity to bat. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, masks must be worn at all times by participants.

Write to Calm: Covid-19 Emotions

Write to Calm

Journaling has been shown to help overcome feelings of powerlessness, confusion, and anxiety. Journaling with others will help lower feelings of loneliness, invisibility, worry, and isolation. During this workshop you'll write to prompts related to the current pandemic. You’ll be invited to share some of your writing with the group if you choose. We will create a safe space to share our experiences related to this extraordinary time. This is not a therapy group, but rather a way to practice journaling as a proven source of stress-relief. No previous journaling experience is necessary.

Group Meditation

Group Meditation

In this class you will learn how to meditate for mind/body/brain health and be guided through a 20-minute silent meditation. A question & answer (Q&A) session afterward will help you with your practice. Pre and post meditation time will include how to develop and deepen mindful living in your daily life. No previous experience with meditation is necessary and previous students and regular meditators are welcome.
