The Construction Management Section oversees and inspects all public improvement construction activities within the City of Ventura. Our mission is to provide excellent customer service while producing high quality projects on schedule and within budget. Safe practice is our priority.
These services are placed into two distinct areas as follows:
City-funded capital improvement program (CIP) projects. These activities include all street improvements, waterline replacements, sewer replacements, sidewalk and handicap ramp construction, bridge improvements, bike path improvements, and improvements made to City facilities.
Encroachment and Grading Permits. This includes land development activities that become public infrastructure, utility excavations such as Southern California Gas, Edison and others, and over-the-counter permits such as driveway aprons, and sewer lateral replacements. The Construction Section also oversees the grading of all private and public developments to ensure design elevations, grades, slopes, and compaction testing meet the design intent.
The Survey Section provides topographical mapping as well as boundary
and control surveys for the design and construction of the public
improvement projects. Surveying staff serves the public by checking
private development subdivision maps, lot line adjustments, and easement
documents, and legal descriptions but does not perform boundary surveys
on privately owned property.
