In 2014, Ventura Public Works received the prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) Accreditation Award and became the 92nd Agency out of 38,142 cities, towns and counties throughout the United States to receive this honor. This award is a “seal of approval” from APWA promoting excellence for implementation of nationally recognized best practices, state-of-the-art operations, and the most efficient use of public resources. Ventura Public Works achieved re-accreditation in 2020 that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement to deliver vital services to our community.
The City of Ventura Public Works Department is the 11th city in California to be accredited out of 19 agencies. Worldwide there are 158 agencies accredited – 156 in the US and 2 in Canada.
