The Municipal Art Collection, on permanent exhibit in City Hall, showcases the breadth and diversity of Ventura County’s visual art community through the representation of multiple media, including sculpture, painting, photography, etching, and ceramics.
The City of Ventura is home to a growing number of vibrant and diverse public art murals. Murals visible from City streets, sidewalks, and public rights of way, must complete a Public Art Mural application and receive design approval from the Arts and Culture Commission before being installed. The Community Partnerships Division oversees this program and provides support navigating the review and approval process.
The “Think Outside the Box” program provides talented local artists and community members with an opportunity to transform street utility boxes into colorful works of public art. Individuals, schools groups, friends, and community organizations are encouraged to participate as artists or project sponsors.
