VenturaWaterPure

Ventura is one of the largest cities in Southern California that relies solely on local water sources.

After a decade of comprehensive evaluations, studies, and piloting has allowed local leaders to consider many forward-thinking solutions to ensure Ventura’s continued water supply. Ultimately, this work led to the VenturaWaterPure Program.

VenturaWaterPure will recover, treat, and reuse water that is currently discharged into the Santa Clara River Estuary, creating a locally-owned, drought-resilient water source that isn’t dependent on rainfall. VenturaWaterPure is:

  • Drought resilient. Creates a drought-resistant, reliable water supply that isn’t dependent on rain.
  • High-quality. Provides a high-quality drinking water supply that meets and exceeds drinking water quality standards.
  • Environmentally protective. Meets regulatory requirements by reducing water discharge into the estuary, creating a natural environment that can support endangered species.
